Open for Questions: Transparency in Government

The Whitehouse has issued the long awaited Open Government Directive. The 11-page document adheres to the following principles:
  • transparency, in which disclosing government information is the default
  • participation, which incorporates citizen input in policymaking
  • collaboration, which creates partnerships inside the government and with industry
Vivek Kundra, federal chief information officer; Aneesh Chopra, federal chief technology officer; and White House New Media Director Macon Phillips explained the directive live during a webcast and took questions via Facebook and Twitter.
