Owen Van Natta of MySpace at Web 2.0 Summit

Owen Van Natta is the Chief Executive Officer of MySpace where he is responsible for all aspects of the company’s strategic vision and the execution of its global business initiatives. Owen joined the MySpace team after serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Project Playlist, a music sharing website allowing users to search for music, create custom playlists, and share the content with friends.

In his conversation with Federated Media’s John Battelle the phrase "socialization of content" was often repeated. Van Natta thinks MySpace has a good position due to its music deals with the major labels and independent ones. Also because it’s much more open than Facebook, he believes this will work to MySpace’s advantage in helping people find content.

He also announced a new dashboard that artists can use to see analytics about who is visiting their page and listening to their music on the network with a single hub for all music video content.
